What should I expect during my first visit?
Your initial appointment includes a thorough diagnostic examination, digital X-rays or 3D imaging, and a discussion of your treatment options. In many cases, treatment can be started or completed the same day.

Does a root canal hurt?
With modern techniques and local anesthetics, treatment is typically no more uncomfortable than getting a routine filling. Our goal is to relieve the pain caused by tooth inflammation or infection, not cause it.

How long does a root canal procedure take?
Most root canal treatments take between 30-45 minutes. Depending on the complexity of the tooth or degree of infection, some cases may require two appointments.

Will I need someone to drive me home?
In standard cases using local anesthesia, you will be completely fine to drive yourself home or back to work.

What should I expect after my procedure?
It is normal to feel mild tenderness or pressure around the treated tooth for a few days while tissue heals. Over-the-counter pain relievers (like ibuprofen or acetaminophen) usually manage this discomfort well.

Do I need to see my general dentist after my root canal?
Yes. After endodontic treatment is complete, you must return to your general dentist—usually within 2 to 4 weeks—to have a permanent crown or final restoration placed to protect the tooth from future fracture or decay.
